Essential Speaking for IELTS  là giáo trình luyện thi môn nói dành cho thí sinh thi  IELTS  hướng tới mức điểm  5.0  đến 6.5  .

Bài thi  IELTS  ngày càng chú trọng việc kiểm tra năng lực tiếng Anh của thí sinh trong mọi tình huống . Để thi nói  IELTS  gồm 3 phần với nội dung đi từ dễ đến khó , yêu cầu thí sinh tái hiện từ những tình huống xã giao thông thường đến thảo luận khoa học , kiểm tra khả năng diễn đạt bằng ngôn ngữ nói của thí sinh trong những tình huống đó . Rất nhiều thí sinh hy vọng có thể nâng cao khả năng nói trong thời gian ngắn . Tuy nhiên , việc này – cũng như việc học tiếng Anh – đòi hỏi phải có thời gian . Do vậy , giáo trình bắt đầu từ việc luyện kỹ năng nghe nói ở trình độ cơ bản , mục đích là giúp các thí sinh từng bước tiến bộ và đạt được kết quả cao nhất trong kỳ thi nói  IELTS  .

Giáo trình này chủ yếu tập trung vào việc luyện nghe , kết hợp nghe và nói . Trên thực tế , muốn giao tiếp tốt bằng tiếng Anh thì điều quan trọng nhất là phải nghe nhiều ngay từ lúc mới bắt đầu học . Nhiều nhà ngôn ngữ khuyên các thí sinh cần dành nhiều thời gian để nghe những mẩu đối thoại có ý nghĩa  và liên quan đến tình huống giao tiếp trước khi học nói tiếng Anh .

Vì vậy , giáo trình đã tổng hợp các loại đề thi môn nói thường được ra ở các kỳ thi  IELTS  trong nhiều năm qua , vận dụng hình thức nghe và nói sau , xâu chuỗi các tình huống về đề tài thành toàn bộ chương trình học . Khi sử dụng giáo trình này thí sinh sẽ nhận thấy rằng mình không chỉ nâng cao kỹ năng nói , luyện thi có hiệu quả mà còn biết nhiều kiến thức văn hóa có liên quan . Đó là sự kết hợp tuyệt vời giữa luyện thi và phát triển các khả năng ngôn ngữ .

Giáo trình gồm 12 bài được biên soạn dựa trên những đề tài đa dạng (bao gồm nhiều phương diện trong giao tiếp xã hội ) .

Mỗi bài gồm 3 phần  :

1.     Pre-listening Exercises : Bao gồm kiến thức văn hóa và kiến thức ngôn ngữ (từ đơn và từ kép) có liên quan đến đề tài , các bài tập chuẩn bị rèn luyện kỹ năng nghe .

2.    Listening Exercises : Mục tiêu luyện nghe được đặt ra dựa vào mục tiêu nói của phần này gồm các bài tập nghe có thể xuất hiện trong môn nói  IELTS .

3.     Speaking Practice  : Rèn luyện kỹ năng nói từ dễ đến khó với các bài tập đa dạng , nội dung học được ở 2 phần trước sẽ được biên soạn thành bài tập (có nâng cao) ở phần này .
